I couldn't test ride XSR, but was able to get a demo ride on the FZ09. What a sweet bike! Smooth, powerful, easygoing. A lot of fun to ride. But the power comes too easy, you don't have to work for it at all! Just as Sean said in his review, you just have to meter the throttle, and be careful not to overdo the freely flowing gobs of power, contrary to flogging the 07. So it was not that enoyable, in a sense of having to ride a fast bike slow. It is an exciting bike and can make one a better rider, but with real life street speeds well short of triple digits, you would use just a fraction of bike's potential except for occasional bursts of fun here and there. I loved the 09's smoothness, but enjoyed flogging my trusty, vibey 07 much more.

I rode my XSR around 1200 miles in comfort the first few days I had it. I'm still piling on the miles. To me, it's a sport bike, a techno/retro machine. It handles razor sharp, wheelies at will in any mode (best to switch TC off though!) and tours well, just throwing a barrel bag on the back of the seat.
Interestingly, I rode the CB the same route, the same distance, in the same 3 day timeframe. With a barrel bag on the back!  I prefer upright bikes. I don't care for windscreens, top boxes and hard bags! That said, I love both bikes, either could be my one and only, but I'm glad I can have both

Could you provide more details about riding each one of these... in general, and on that same route? I need to choose between these two bikes.. not an easy task
