Very desirable Honda CT110?

The following paragraph is from a current eBay listing for a decent looking, low mileage 1980 Honda CT110. "I rarely ride trail bikes, but when I do, I ride a CT110." lol

This beauty was a craigslist score. This bike could be a show piece in any man cave. It is extremely rare to find any bike this old with this low of mileage and condition. It would be a simple restoration to bring it to museum quality. Anyone looking for a nice bike in great condition should consider this bike because it is in amazing condition and anyone that is a collector knows Honda is a great brand to collect and the value will grow exponentially as we start reflecting back on some of the best machines man has ever made. This reflection will start to bring tremendous value to the Brands that have been trend setters and have a following because of its high quality. I'm certain that the price I'm starting it at might be higher then most have sold for but this condition is worth the price if your one who values rare and pristine pieces of machinery that are extraordinary in quality. I'm certain the buy it now price will be used because there are plenty of people who have inexhaustible amounts of wealth and this bike who be what you would expect to find in a Millionaire or Billionaires possession because it is what makes a statement about a man is his possessions and it is rare to achieve that level of success so it is a person who values those rare articles that deserve a environment that is protected and admired by all who visit.

I just called all of the millionaires and billionaires that I know and not one owns a 1980 CT110. I cry foul!

Compared to the price of a Cabbage Patch doll in like condition I'm sure this CT is a bargain. Those who purchase vintage motors had best want them for something other than investment value however.

I think that 1980 was the first year of the CT110. If I remember correctly, for whatever reason, Honda omitted the dual range gearbox on the 1980, so they are actually the least desirable of the 110s, as the 1981 onward returned to the dual range gearbox. [Edit: I did an online search, and it's true that the 1980 was the one year without the dual range tranny]

And yeah, the hyperbole in the the ad sounds like something out of Robb Report describing a vintage Ferrari. Just silly.

Don't know if there was a BIN price, but it had 5 bids and sold for $2253.00. Seller was "grammysue" who's past auction sales were in crocheted items and baby shoes.

The Buy It Now was $2000. I'm not suggesting the bike isn't worth that to the right buyer, I just think the hyperbole and salesmanship was a bit over the top. It gave me quite a laugh. I needed that!
