The day Guzzi will build the V7 with a more "acceptable" engine regarding power output and with some better quality components here and there (forks, brakes etc.), there will be no more Bonnevilles and CBs on the streets, because that might come out to be the perfect bike: good looking, good performance, good quality and great heritage, who would be able to beat such a mix?

Is it air-cooled? I can't tell. If so, it's such a logical air-cooled engine arrangement, and the longitudinal crankshaft makes perfect sense for pairing with shaft drive.

Yes, air cooled.

My nephew has one. He's got about $3500 in extras on it.. Guzzi windshield, Agostini pipes, Ohlins rear shocks etc. I've ridden it and found it to be just OK. Think I did a write up on it a while back. Sorry, not a Guzzisti. I just don't get the appeal. It's slow (48 hp), it twists at idle, it vibrates at all speeds, it does handle decently, and sounds pretty good. It shifts pretty good, the brakes are pretty good. The switches were cheap feeling. The speedo was off center on the dash which looked weird, and no tachometer. The gear indicator didn't know what gear it was in until you let out the clutch. I think I rated it a 7 out of 10 after riding it. I'd much rather have an SV 650 Suzuki, but for me neither come close to comparing to the CB1100.
Same nephew recently bought a Kawasaki Versys 650, so his Moto Guzzi is probably going to be on the sales block soon. |
