It's a great looking bike which has been hampered by competition. On it's own it might of sold well but in a sea of Triumphs, both air then water-cooled, it was destined to fail. A recent relaunch looked promising and along came Royal Enfield with the 650 to ruin the party once again. Shame, it's a looker, my buddy has a 2015 model and its sweet. They never caught a break on this bike and, a bit like the CB, was deemed a little too rich for what you got.

Highest evolution of the Yamaha thumper: five valves, 660cc, water cooled (Edit: not exactly, this engine went on to be FI on the XTs we never could buy here)

Kawasaki really did a super job on looks. The old school air-cooled twin lump is addictive to look at.

I really like the overall look, the uncluttered engine--the fact that there's space.
The view from the side is awesome, but looking at more photos...an angle view from the front brings out how wide the white stripe on the tank is. I love a good pin-stripe that provides a bit of relief to a solid tank color, but this is too wide for my taste:
Even more noticeable here:
Now I look at the tank and it seems too busy: the wide stripe, the Kawasaki emblem, the knee pad, the latter two I find attractive, but I'd prefer a larger patch of red / blue. Still, a fine looking machine.

I wonder how the W800 would appeal with a chrome finished fuel tank? Too much silver?

There seem to be lots of 2019s leftover if you like brown. The reviews on them were not great.

Dang. Too bad. I think they still look nice in brown, and price on the low side? Yeah, that is a shame this late into the 21st century.
