I am part of a group here in Ireland and we arrange skill days in large empty car parks every now and then. One of the most useful elements is exercising your ABS. We take the bike up to 40-50 km/h and when we hit a marker apply maximum braking to intentionally invoke the ABS.
On the day you might end up doing that 10-15 times and it really gets you to "know" your bikes braking capability, how your current tyres behave and how your ABS feels when activated. There might be 25-30 bikes doing it and it is interesting to see the variations and how much people improve their stopping distance by the time they have done it a few times, gaining confidence with each run.
It is a useful experience and the intention is to apply absolute maximum pressure on the brake lever and rear pedal to show you just how aggressive you can be without fear. I recommend any rider does this with their bike and get a feel for it.
I have cornering ABS on my Triumph, I'm not going to test the limits on that cranked over round a bend though!
