I love mine in any case, and it doesn't cook my thighs! I think I remember Mr. P. reporting that he rode one and it handled like a pig. While I know he's a spirited rider, the odds are that the bike he rode had the pre-load set to the stops. The bikes are shipped that way, and some poll had over 80 percent of the dealers not setting it up according to their checklist (other BMW's aren't shipped that way). Mine in any case handles quite well. You can tell if it's set up wrong by the fact that you'll scrape pegs. I have to REALLLLY go out of my way to try to scrape mine.
I can't imagine any sensible reason why a rider would want to try to scrape low hanging fruit on a bike like this.
( ... unless it was stolen, then they wouldn't care.)

I'm one of the seemingly handful of folks that really like this bike (the stock version). I think the modded bike in the original post is beautiful, but as others have said, modded bikes seem never to be practical bikes.
If I had room in my garage and my bank account, I'd probably have one.

I think that custom is bloody awful but I would take this work of art, even if it did scrape the pegs.

I'd take that streamliner any day over the others as the bodywork hides the otherwise hideous nature of that monstrosity of a machine.
I had an R9T for a spell so i can appreciate the boxer platform but at 1170cc the cylinder heads on the R9T were large enough....in a sport touring platform it's a phenomenal powerplant. In a cruiser platform not so much as the huge cylinders severely limit the position and type of foot controls you can use

Sometimes though, it really makes you scratch your head.
