CAUTION WHEN CHOOSING OIL
#21
I think if there is none more useless thread like this on this forum I am just going to leave.

Use whatever the heck sludge you want to put in your $11000 bike. I really don't care. It's your bike, and this is America after all. You can immunize your kids or not, buy a gun or not, fly the flag or not, pray to God or not. Why can't you use whatever oil you want?

You are absolutely right, and I am absolutely wrong. I apologize.

I've been talking to a good friend of mine and he told me all the newer designed honda motorcycles engine were designed for JASO MA 10w30, there are some compartment/bearings in the heart of the engine that won't be accessible to engine oil thicker than 10w30, thus that part of the engine won't be properly lubricated. Just sharing

User manual lists only 10/30
I've been told service manual lists 10/30 and than 10/40 for hotter climates.

Ouch! [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Passive-aggressive_behavior]Passive/Aggressive much?

The great thing about the internet is nobody forces anyone to read anything. Right now, I'll click <Post Reply>, then forget all about this thread while I look at everyone's new farkles. Biker

What insults are you talking about? There have been ZERO insults in this thread, just calm disagreement about questions relating to oil.

Lo it funny that such a passive thing as oil can cause such a stir. We can disagree, but lets kerp it civil. I really hate stepping in and moderating such a thread.

Lets talk about octane ratings, or best tires, or oil filters or using torque wrenches instead.. you know something everyone can agree on...bwaahaahaaaa

Ok boys that one slipped past us but has been deleted. All I ask is that you refrain from cursing, name calling, insulting put downs. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Doesn't mean you have to attack someone from having a different opinion as yours. State your opinion and let the other fellow state his. Simple as that. There is no wall to pee up against here.

Play nice!

A member just pm'd me regarding my admonishment above, feeling it was aimed at him. It wasn't! My warning was to all and not directed at anyone in particular. Sometimes, certain subjects, can cause tension. If you have been around internet forums for any length of time, you know this. Oil is certainly one of them. If you ( general you .... not aimed at anyone in particular) are one that gets fired up by those subjects, why not just avoid them in the first place? We all know better, "I" know better, but still get drug into the discussions anyway. There is no winner in an internet argument, only hard feelings. In the end, everyone believes what they believe and will continue to do or use, practices or products that they believe in. It's human nature.

Guth tried to set up a nice place here for people to come and discuss their experiences with the Honda CB 1100. His desire was that the forum remain civil for all. Just trying to keep it that way.
