Need a quick diagnosis
#1
I hardly ever ride at night time but I did the other day and noticed that when I switch my lights to bright that only half the lights are on, making it less bright that the normal setting, but when I pull in the "push to pass" my lights are as bright as can be. What could be causing this? Fuse? Thanks in advance!

Adjustment I suspect. Your headlight needs to be raised.

When you hit flash to pass both low beam and highbeam burn at the same time making it brighter.

Push to pass works...that's exactly my point but when I use the switch only the low beams switch on.

your low beam works when it's just switched to "low"?

Yep. And high when you hold in ptp but when switched to high it is less bright than the lows being on.

Leaning toward misalignment.

Maybe I just don't get it...but how can it be aligned when I have the ptp pulled in but not aligned when I use the switch?

Tilt the headlight up some. See if that helps.

I'm not sure that it's an alignment issue, but it could be, and because your low beam is just the low, the high beam is just the high, and the PTP is both. Your initial description of the issue indicates, to me at least, that the light may be misaligned low and possibly to one side. Even if I'm wrong, it's worthwhile to check the alignment, if only to eliminate the variable.

OK....I get what he's seeing.

Low beam is low beam only
High beam is high beam only
PTP turns on the high beam while the low beam is illuminated and is brighter than either by it self.

When you turn the high beam on it turns off the low beam. The PTP is only a momentary switch and is only supposed to be used for short bursts so it won't overheat the housing.
If you were to have both the high and low beams lit at the same time for prolonged periods of time, the bulb and the light housing could overheat to the point of failure.

Does that make sense?
