New Fluids for new bike

As mentioned elsewhere, I have a new to me 2014 DLX with just 1,100 miles on it that is in like-new condition. Pretty sure it was bought in 2014.

Owners manual says to change the brake fluid and clutch fluid at the 2 yr mark, so I should do that this summer, right? I want to pamper the bike and take excellent care of it, but the same time I don't want to throw money away if something is not needed. Sounds like changing out those 2 fluids every 2 years is a standard practice for nearly all motorcycles?

Other than oil and oil filter, any other maintenance items I am missing?

Yes the fluids should be changed every 2 years. You have ABS brakes so follow the service manual procedure for those.

The brake and clutch fluid absorb water over time. Failure to flush and change can/will cause expensive damage. Fluid flushes are cheap compared to brake parts

Good reminder. My DLX turns two this year too (I guess they all do). Time to get those hydraulics replaced. I'll let the dealer handle it.

I did my '13 a little late, my car gets it every 2 years and my ST is over due but getting done soon, along with a coolant flush. I'm letting the dealer do that thing.

If you do it yourself, the head mech at the dealer said do not get air in the ABS system or it can be a real pain to get out. Someone here can most likely speak to flushing ABS brakes.

I'll have my dealer handle the fluid flush and replacement. As much as I enjoy working on the bike, I'm happy to have someone else handle that one and do it properly!
