If you google it, Wiki has an entry that explains how they work. And so do other sites.
I would have posted a link last night, but don't know how to on the iPad yet.

Could of sworn I updated my thread but guess I didn't Haha. Got it fixed last Tuesday. And the CB purs again. But love the bike just took it out for a 100 mile ride yesterday and smile on my face the whole time. Something about this bike that just makes me extremely happy!

Jeff, Please, some details. What was the problem? The IACV?

The iacv was my problem when I would take off and pull up to a stop sign my bike would stay a cold start idle. 1400-1500 rpm's but the dealer under warranty replaced my iacv and its back to normal 900-1000rpm when warm

Thank you for the update.

Hi Jeff,
When the problem happened, could "ignition off/on" this action solve the problem temporally? As I know IACV is part of Throttle Body Assy.; Dealer replaced the whole assy. or IACV only? Thanks in advance!

Hello all, first time poster, owner of a 2014 CB1100 since Feb 2016. Bike is at the dealership for a second time with this issue.
First time, the ECU was "fried" and replaced under warranty. The high idle issue (+1500 RPMs in neutral, surging to +2000 RPM when shifted into gear, using more fuel than usual, behavior worsening as bike is ridden longer) resolved itself after the ECU was replaced. The issue returned after ~2 months. I have asked the dealer to specifically look at the IACV, and to NOT ONLY replace the ECU, but also the IACV, hoping this resolves the issue. Fortunately the bike is warrantied through May 2017. My experience with this bike has been great, aside from these issues. I've installed the SW Motech crash bars and modified the CTX700 $50 rear seat and rack to fit the bike. Loads of fun, I love riding it (talked to motogeezer before buying), but these issues are making the CB1100 a struggle to fall in love with.

G'day and welcome aboard, Johnf. I can imagine this constant problem would make you leary of the bike. I hope Honda is able to fix it for you. Please let us know how you get on.
