i cleaned a fresh bored and blasted and ported set of RD350 cyls in a dishwasher at my apartment prior to oiling the bore and painting. they had to replace the dishwasher. rentals. lol. (this was a few mos ago)

What did you do, run parts cleaning fluid, instead of water?!

After an engine block, 750 cc & crank came back from machine shop, I put in the bathtub and give'em a good wash to remove all metal fillings +++. My mom was screaming and was very upset, so my dad intervene and said "it's better that we know what Peter is doing and where...instead of being it unknown"...
When in winter, overhauling and porting a 2-stroke, 175cc engine was completed, I let it sit on cabinet near my bed until spring..

More than certain, everyone has similar stories

That must have set a record for bath tub ring!
Probably a porcelain tub, rather than fiberglass.

no, the particulate from blasting left in the casting destroyed the food grinder and drain pump.

"But mom, I was only trying to sharpen the food grinder blades!"

My dad had no such excuses when he was a teenager and tossed sodium into his mom's dishwater and set the kitchen curtains on fire.

He never seemed to mind my experiments.
