Getting ready to put on a new rear PR3
#1
After almost 10K miles I hadn't realized how worn down and blocky the center portion of the tire had become until I placed the new tire next to it Ordered a PR3 from Revzilla for $178.00 including shipping and it got here in 2.5 days.

I run the 160 width on the rear and you can see that there is very little room on the right hand side between the tire and center stand. No issue and no rubbing going on but think I might take out the grinder and make a little more room there.

I had a lot more clearance than that. I could get my finger in between the tire and the stand on both sides.

Are we allowed to joke about hand size? Are you running the 160 or the stock 140 size? Also, you’re on a DLX and I’m on a 13. Cant see Honda making changes to dimensions on the center stand between those two model though.

Frulk the center stand did change between 2013 and the 14 DLX, they had to accommodate a different exhaust. That said, I don't recall my 2013 having that little clearance

I think Pterodactyl ground his centerstand in 2013 but the rest of us rode them "as is" with no issues. I know theremust be a dozen forum members or more running the 160 rears and at least 1/2 doz running the 120 fronts.

Yes, Pterodactyl did grind the stand. There’s a post somewhere. http://cb1100forum.com/forum/showthread....7#pid51027

I’ve been running PR3s and haven’t bothered grinding the stand. I’ve had no problems. I also think I have more clearance than you, Frulk. I’ll have to look later.

I went out to do a little grinding but gave up. My grinder is a beast and it's difficult to get the appropriate angle on the center stand foot while the bike is off the lift. Hasn't given me any problems to date so I'll stay status quo. Was much easier to get a Lager out of the garage fridge and type this reply.

Cormanus...here's another couple of glamor shots for you from today. Its a favorite spot for me to take pictures because it provides scale and is close to the house.

And a gratuitous sunset picture below from a day ago.

You sound like a bloke after my own heart, Frulk. Given the choice between working on the bike or going for a ride or—if it's that time of day—a lager, the ride or the lager would win every time.

The light and colour and the sky in Utah seem pretty conducive to taking photos. Thanks for sharing.
