Ok, so did a search, and didn't come up with any threads addressing tank interchange between submodels and years.
I have a 2014 standard. And want a bigger tank. And prefer the tank off the 2017.
Straight bolt on?
I'm not looking for opinions as to why, or opinions on costs. I'm just looking for the straight, nuts and bolts answer.

I am willing to share this conversation with you. Hope, you will make your decision:
Q: "I already bought from you a white, 16.8 L gas tank for my 2013/2014 CB.
One of the CB1100 Forum member from Italy, claims that he has a white 2018 CB1100EX, equipped with a 16.8 L gas tank?
If he is correct, will his gas tank fit my 2014 model and fuel gauge still be operating normally?
Will I need to buy fuel pump/gasket/gas cap/key, altogether with this 16.8L tank gas tank , in order to function properly with my 2014? Will there be any gas tank/handle bar interference on dead end turns?
I know fuel line fitting/locking is different between 2014 and 2018, will it fit or its replacement its mandatory to make it work correctly?
Also, one 2018 European specs shows 17.5 L..??????
Your professional advice with total/S&H price is very much appreciated.

A: Regarding your question, the 2018 CB1100EX tank can be fitted a 2014 CB1100 and fuel gauge still operate almost normally.
According to Honda website, the fuel tank capacity is 16 L, not 16.8 litre.
You don't need to buy a new 2018 fuel pump, but you will need gasket, gas cap and key.
The stock 2014 CB1100 handlebar does not interfere the 2018 CB1100EX tank.
You are right, the fuel line fitting/locking is different between the 2014 and 2018. It would be perfect to change the parts, but we haven't changed the parts and so far, no problem.. (almost 2 years now).

Q: We are talking about seamless tank of 2017 & up model, and it looks like there is a tank of 17 L ????, perfect for me, am I correct about 17 L seamless tank ?
There is a lot of confusion with gas tank volume (L).
Also, you mention about fuel level reading: "fuel gauge still operate almost normally", could you explain better, please.
When I compared catalogue pictures, 2014 with 2017, it looks like the fuel float rod has slightly different shape. So if I buy seamless tank of 2017 & up with its fuel pump assembly, instead of using my 2014 pump, would that complete ass-y give perfect fuel level reading and fit ????. See 2 pictures of fuel pump ass-y attached.
I am just asking, you are the best expert!!!!!!
What tank colours are available, I would be only interested in: white, yellow, maybe blue.

A: Yes, we are talking about seamless tank of 2017-2019 model.
The new 2019 CB1100 17 L tank looks very much the same as the 2014-2016 CB1100EX (17 L capacity, according to Honda website) tank.. That is not seamless tank.
Most of customers who have purchased the new seamless tank for the 2010-2016 CB1100 said the fuel gauge works fine, but there are a few people said it does not work accurately as before. However, they said it works okay, not a big issue.. "

This thread by CB1100_dude suggests he has put a 2017 tank on his 2013. You might contact him through PM and post the findings here.

Welcome Halfahat. Tanks come painted with stripes (if there are any) and badges, no cap or pump.

I can confirm the above based on my OEM tank purchase, exactly as PD said.
