And this is why I didn’t use “best” in my request for lists.
As to my favorite (or favourite) Westerns (among others and in no particular order):
High Noon
Magnificent Seven
Once Upon A Time In The West
The Shootist
The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance
Rio Bravo

Lawrence of Arabia.
(I think of Peter O'Toole riding that bike with the wind in his face every time I'm on my bike, I try not to think about the impending fatal wreck.)
Young Frankenstein.
Father Goose
Casablanca
The Thin Man
Have a good year everyone.

Now that you mention westerns I can't believe I forgot "The Outlaw Josey Wales", the best western ever made.
"Dying' ain't much of a living' boy".
W/R, I’d have said that honour belongs to “Unforgiven”, but it’s a while since I saw “The Outlaw Josey Wales’. Maybe I should watch it again.

I will grant you that Unforgiven is an excellent movie but I rate it as #3 western all time, closely behind The Man with no Name trilogy (I think of it as one long continuous movie).
My reason is that I feel Josey Wales and The Man with no Name movies are "original" westerns and feel more organically made whereas I view Unforgiven (filmed many years later) is more of homage to the earlier films - much like our CB is - and a couple of places it just seems like they are trying too hard.

I'm watching "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre" right now. Another one that should be on everyone's "must see" list
