Gaitors for front suspenders - opinions?
#51

I found it necessary to change the fork springs as they are way to soft. That's when I went with the Kawi gaitors. Had I not changed the springs i may have considered these. Nice Dennis.

Thanks Honda Lover for the feedback. Nothing can take the place of a "real" set of gaitors, but the Kijima's appear to be the next best thing, if not a bit overpriced.

Sorry I'm late to this party... long story.

Buy the Kawi gaiters if you decide to install a pair.
I had the British Customs budget gaiters on my CB1100 Deluxe at first, but they were junk in just 8 months.
Here's a link to my slide show on installing new fork springs and gaiters onto the CB1100.

Kawasaki Gaiters Vent. Ordered a pair on 11/24 from Partzilla. I have now received 2 emails advising "delay in shipment" so I called to see what was going on. CSR said they were on national backorder and I might get another delay notice if they did. I paid for these things on 11/24, which CSR says that happens when order is placed. Some vendors don't bill you until they ship. She offered to cancel the order but I said I would wait a little longer. The Triumph gaiters might be cheaper--but are they more readlily available? It's such a hassle to cancel an order, then still have my money tied up waiting for a credit or refund.

I got the same thing from DC Cycle. It took a month. They credited back the freight charge. It's worth the wait.

I just rec'd the package from Revilla with the Kijima Easy On 41mm Gaitors. Took almost two weeks.

Bottom line, I don't like them and will most likely be returning them.

They are two big and bulky and must weigh a couple of pounds. The rubber is very thick and somewhat stiff, certainly not soft and flexible like most OEM gaiters I've seen. They are probably good for protection of the forks, with tie wraps to keep them from splitting open, but not much else. Their appearance though, once mounted would look kind of goofy, like they are just too large and overwhelming for the bike.

I don't recommend them, and besides that they are WAY TOO OVERPRICED!

TINK, my british custom gaiters tore up within 6 months and seller refused to accept that the same ever happened to any of his other customers ..

no big deal as they were cheap .. will looking to swap out to the Kawi gaiters when front forks will be serviced in the future ..

excellent write up on the fork servicing

I'm at work and don't have my bike with me but I'm curious - what size are our fork tubes?
