Beautiful pics. What tires are those btw? I was shopping for new tires for by CB and I saw a lot of tires, but I don't recognize that tread pattern.

Maybe you skipped over the cheapo Shinko brand? Shinko SR741, stock size. I think it was around $140. I've used Shinko for other bikes (mainly on my KLR650 a whiles back), and they seemed fine, decent wear. But with the KLR, I wasn't exactly concerned with street tire performance. On the CB, I changed the rear because it was getting worn, but left the front Avon on, so it's hard to appreciate how the Shinko "performs". But I am not a good person to ask about tire performance. It's got tread...it's aired up correctly...it doesn't leak air--that's great performance. I'm sure my riding style matches my lack of expectations of permformance.

What kind of bag is on the top of your seat?
Kemimoto tail bag, 22L to exapandable 34L, which is really nice when you buy too many groceries. I guess it comes with a rain cover, tho' I don't remember if mine did. Likely it did and it's in the garage somewhere. Good strapping with elastic thingies that you insert the left over strap ends into so they don't flop around. $60 at Amazon. I think I've had it 3-4 years and it's still holding up well. Would buy again.

I don't mind a hard-packed, non-paved road for the CB, heavy gravel, no thanks. But I wasn't on this road too much...I just wanted to "feel the orchard" for a bit. There were cherries, pears, apples...peaches too. And best I've every tasted, to the point I don't even bother buying a peach in the grocery store anymore. East side of Mt. Hood, just south of Hood River is prime fruit country. A little further east of Hood River, I once bought 2 peaches at The Dalles, right before dinner. I ate one...couldn't resist the other. I passed on dinner because I didn't want to ruin the spell.

It seems to me that one of the consequences of humans' need to have access to seasonal fruit and vegetables all the time is that most of the taste has been bread out of them. We had reasonable peaches and nectarines this year which was an unexpected pleasure.

Thanks for the great pictures, pdedse. I would love to ride a CB, or anything, for that matter, in the Mt Hood area. I got to ride the Mt Ranier area for a couple of years when we lived near Tacoma, WA., but never got down to that part of Oregon. Beautiful country.

Didn't do anything with my CB1100 over the weekend, but I'm getting her ready for the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride coming up this Sunday, which means I'm also pulling out my favorite ceremonial helmet for the occasion - I'll take a ride in a bit to get a photo with it for this month's photo challenge, as I can't skip a challenge this easy! I was going to give the Bonneville a turn at the DGR this year. But, half of the participants will be on Triumphs, and I've never seen another CB1100 on the ride. Plus, she'll be sporting her new Road Comet fairing and Staintune muffler, so how could I deny her the chance to show off a bit.
The Orange County CA ride is going to start from the Huntington Beach Pier and head up Pacific Coast Highway to Long Beach. My initial thought was "Oh jeez, not again..." Our DGR went up the coast a few years ago. Even riding "Dapper and gentlemanly", over 200 bikes in a herd barging their way up the most heavily-travelled road in the county on a spring Sunday morning made for sort of a S&*@-Show.
However, subsequent emails about the route sound encouraging. We're starting on the Huntington Beach Pier, and will be "The first time motorcycles have ever been allowed on the Pier", and we'll have a police escort. So, it sounds like the only group ride I engage in annually might be fun after all.
I'll pre-ride the route this week after work to get my bearings. Even with a police escort, I imagine there will be some confusion. Last time the ride went up PCH and got splintered into smaller herds due to the light-to-light breaks in traffic, I fell in with a group that was following a vintage BMW. He made a few turns, with 10 or so riders behind him. He stopped after a few blocks and yelled back "I'm trying to find a gas station, please don't follow me!"
You know what? I actually would like a pickle.

Gone, that sounds like a lot of fun and I always look forward to the pictures of you in your "Distinguished" garb. That CB, with it's Road Comet fairing and Stayintune muffler should be the hit of the gathering. Have fun!
