The reality is we are not in control of what product comes from Honda. You buy a product weather an iPhone, iPad and etc if it meets your current needs/desires and price point. If a new comes one has to evaluate the reward versus cost. I for one love my 2013. I'll change components to make it mine. If the 2014 was in a color I wanted badly or had some feature I could not live without I pay them or get a second bike. Of course who knows what 2015 will hold? Why did some markets get white, or black or blue? Who knows the logic but I am sure Mr. T for a price can solve the issue. My CB1100 has got me jazzed about bikes again, allowed me to take my old BMW down for a rebuild, and fills a need that the BMW could not fill. Heck when the BMW is off the lift , I'm going to get the 1970 CB 750 that my buddy has given me and restore it. If had wanted the CB 750 I could have gotten it. I wanted a bike like the old CB but was not a project bike that I could rimed every day, be reliable, and suffer with getting parts until it becomes a collector item.
Enjoy what you have, change it as required to make it work or make you happy, or buy another. Life is short, enjoy, ride and stop thinking about the next model year.

I guess what I am saying is, you either like this bike or you didn't, if you needed a six speed and a larger tank and four into two pipes and higher bars and a different seat and double wall headers and so on and so on..... Maybe you should have bought a different motorcycle. As for me, that's why I own a 10 State line, a Z1000 and a 76 CB550f. One bike will never fill the bill for all types of riding, heck, two or three bikes will not fill the bill. As we speak, I am eyeing a Husqvarna TR650 Terra... Another bike for another type of riding. And for those of you that claim you did research... You had better start doing research at real motorcycle shows... All of these upgrades, I heard about from the Honda reps last year in long beach... And I still wanted the 13 CB. And so I bought it. No regrets, sour grapes or complaints... I now have 3500 miles on it and its hard for me to not smile every time I think about that multi-flaud little red mistake Honda made... Maybe they can screw up a 2015 CBX... I'll buy that too...

Interesting thread. I was actually going to start one that talks about the value of our bikes but i see that would be useless at this point. The market varies of course depending on where you are at but down here in Houston the current trade value would be about 5-5.5k. The dealer would retail the bike around 7500.00. Most dealers want about 2-2.5k buffer on most of there used units. I just got off the phone with one of my honda dealers and asked if the 14ex was coming state side and he stated he asked the honda Rep that very same question about a month ago and the rep said NO.I am a little dissapointed that the value of our bikes have dropped as much as it has. This is a niche bike. A very cool niche bike but one none the less. I think Honda over estimated the potential sales of this bike in the U.S. market. I recently did a search in cycle trader within a 100 mile radius of my zip and about 10 new ones popped up. The dealer i just talked to said there still quite a few available in honda's wherehouse. I dont think the 14ex will be here anytime soon so i would enjoy this great machine as it is and what it was meant for. Plus, there is so much you can do personalize it. You can cafe it,set it up for light touring or commuting with windshields and bags or whatever works for you. Its all good. Just post pics so we can see all your upgrades.

Um, wow.
Um, wow.
Dan, are you telling us that prior to November 2012 when Honda announced that this bike was finally being imported (and when many of us placed our orders for our 2013 models) that Honda reps were talking about an upgraded model coming in 2014?
As far as I know that was not reported anywhere, and that surely would have been big news.

Just look at the threads around this place a few weeks back. Collectively as a group, we still didn't know what might, or might not be headed our way this year as far as the CB1100 was concerned.
Also, it's one thing to be dissatisfied with a product, but to want a different product even more doesn't necessarily mean that a person isn't happy with what they bought. We all have different preferences. For many, the 2013 model was the best thing going back when it was released. Now for some, the 2014 Deluxe model will supplant the 2013 offering as the bike that comes the closest to their ideal. That doesn't strike me as being all that difficult to understand. I hope that everyone out there who is pining for a 2014 model is able to find a way to make it happen. Especially if that means selling or trading in a 2013 model. The more CB1100s out there being ridden, the better.

As others have inferred on this thread, trading in any motor vehicle is the most expensive way to get rid of one and buy another one. Dealers always look at this proposition as a "double-ender" as in making money on both. You end up selling wholesale and buying retail. It's certainly convenient in that you can drive in with your old model, do some paperwork and then drive out with the new one but you pay dearly for the convenience. Better to sell privately then go make your best deal on the new one.

Well. I can only guess the other guys liked the bike because, like me, they put their money where their mouth (and heart) was. It hit a lot of the right buttons. For some of us further work was needed to make "perfect". Let's face it, Honda tapped the keg of ideas with this bike and things like the White House bike came forth. Since we're all a wee bit different with a slightly different set of hot buttons (spoked wheels, four into four, four into two, windscreens - fairings, color etc.) and this bike hit many of them - but not all of them. How could it? We all prioritize our hot buttons differently and the Deluxe/EX hits a different set. But Honda is having some fun by making their own "custom" version of the CB1100.
Naturally; some features became desirable only after using the bike for a while so naturally we all wanted to improve things. Who knew Honda would do it so soon after letting the bike into the US market?
So I reserve the right to whine and wring my hands.

Believe me I researched this bike for 3 years, and ordered it before my dealer even knew it was available. Most of us that desired the bike figured this might be a one shot deal and like Rboe said a one year model. It was discussed at length here.
Believe me had i know or had an inkling that there would be an upgraded model only 1 year later, I'd have waited. Then I would have had a choice, the original sporty model or the upgraded model.
I might wait for few yrs and trade mine for used Deluxe model as long as it is RED, no spokes, no ABS in similar condition (pristine.) We are like a bunch of kids .. new toys ... new toys ... when the old toy is not used enough.
