rear rack

I started out thinking I was going to post this in the what I did today - I was undecided about driving 28miles one way to do a special non-standard pick up for a part late Friday to install on a customer on Saturday or wait to have it delivered on Monday and then do it; when I had a flash - Take the CB for a spin and do both! Excellent choice, win-win - customer gets part early w no addt'l charge and I take a ride during "work". That covers that post.

Then I was going to talk about the weather - enough said there.

Then ultimately I realized the main focus of this forum for many is the functionality, purpose, and wealth of fellow knowledge and member assistance. So in this post's picture you can see that after installing the really nice rear rack I received form Mr. T, I discovered a minor flaw in the design replacement.

In the image (subtle changes some will obviously talk about that I have read in past posts, so I couldn't resist) one will notice that my use of bungees is hampered from the stock bungee horizontal mounting studs that used to be available coming out of the grey thingamajigs along side the seat. They were fabulous as attachment points for the bungees. Now, the rack has replaced those with no bungee shoulders and vertical posts further aft now that do not lend themselves to loads spreading across the rack and seat.

It would have been easy to duplicate those horizontal bungee attachment points on the rack design, but they didn't. Small detail, but OK - so it/they get a grade of A- vs A+.

As some may notice, I do not have my duffels yet either.

That is a bummer - the 'skinny' rack I got from Mr. T (same black one as Kevbroce has pictured at beginning of this thread) keeps the original bungee posts.

Looking for a rear rack to mount my tailbag. There seems to be several offered for the'13, any favorites?

Have you considered the Ventura system? They provide a mounting system onto which you can put a rack for which they provide a sports bag. It can also be converted into a full luggage system. I've got the full system and use the rack for days out and then install the full system for touring. If you check their Site you may not find the CB1100 listed because they sell so few for this bike but they do have the pattern and they make to order.
