What benefit will I get from a dampening kit on a road going CB1100? I'm not trying to be confrontational, but you didn't sell me on it either. The shocks we're an obvious Achilles on the bike but the forks with the right springs aren't all that bad. I'll spend money if it makes sense to do so, but haven't felt like the dampening on the forks is problematic.
I just checked out their kit, all it is is a pre-modified rod to use the racetech emulator, the emulators (gold valves) and springs (which I already have). I can modify my own stock rod if I wanted to fit gold valves, so essentially all this kit would net me is the gold valve which I can buy for about 112 dollars.

While I appreciate what gold valves can do, I know them well and don't feel like this bike needs them.

as big a change as doing the rears
springs dont do anything for the dampening just hold the bike up the gold valves do a realy good job of slowing the bikes dive and rebound, you have some adjustment there vs none
although if you are lighter weight you wont be so bad
i have done 3 of the kits on bikes so far and likely wont do without on a std fork
there is a reason honda went to the duel bending valves on the new bikes
i would think if you liked the rear shock difference you will like the new forks just as much
lots of guys thing there is nothing wrong with the suspension as is. if you paid for the shocks then your not one of those guys
you cand spend alot more and get cartridge kits but i think on this bike the damper kit is a real bargain

Knowing how personal suspension setup is, I'm still a bit surprised that you find the stock forks with the right spring rate and a preferred fluid viscosity is woefully inadequate. Do you track your CB or are you a really heavy person? I only ask this because I live in New England where the roads are pretty terrible and I consider myself to be fairly average weight (200 lbs) and don't have an excessive diving issue or oddball dampening in the front.

sweet like i said plenty of guys think the susp is great
if thats the case i would leave it alone
for me it was to soft
not as bad as my fz-07 but soft
if you rode one with both front and back done along side one that was stock you would notice a difference
at least i would think you would after all you think the rear shocks that you put on improved the bike
again if you dont think there is a problem drive on
wasnt looking to offend just that you had the rear done and gonna have the front apart and it would be the perfect time to swap some guts.
at this point if you spend the money you will be mad at me cause it wont make enough difference
and we dont want that

I get your point and no offense taken whatsoever! It's all good discussion and suspension is one of the most personal setups on a bike so opinions are all over the place on optimal setup, especially when considering all the factors (weight, riding style, type of riding, road conditions, etc.) I appreciate the dialogue!

Forks are done. Changed springs to .95 kg RaceTech springs, 7.5wt Motul Fork Oil and black anodized caps. The fork oil looked fairly good for its age.

I also added the Triumph fork gaiters. Not sure if I'm hooked on the look of the gaiters but waiting for the whole thing to come together before making that determination.

Dropped off the wheels, WM Front Fender and Grab handles at the powdercoater.

The stands are the cheapo Venom stands from Amazon:

You'll also need a #19 pin which I was unable to find for the Venom stand, so I used the Pitbull #19 pin:

Finally, you'll need a different retaining pin (the pin that holds the #19 pin into the stand) because the Venom uses a larger diameter retaining pin than the Pitbull. I just used an old hardened screwdriver for this. The retaining pin supports the weight but if it broke the #19 pin would only drop about 1/2" down as it's flanged. If you have a lathe you could turn the Venom retaining pin (or drill the hole in the #19 larger) or just use a grade 8 fastener that fit the hole. Sounds complicated but if you buy the two items above it's insanely obvious when you have the parts in your hand.
