Luggage Rack Options

There's some confusion on luggage racks, as far as if the genuine Honda top Box from Samurai (and possibly other Honda non-US distributors) will fit the Genuine Honda rack.

There have been several luggage racks from Genuine Honda, not only different for the different models, but different heights and with different configuration tops.
As far as the tops are concerned, can anyone who has a Honda rack please say what model bike you have and where the rack came from if not a used one.

And if you have the Honda top box, which one it fit.

I have them both.
The left one (round crossbars, sits lower) came from the Honda dealer and I had it mounted on my '13 CB, and after I sold my bike, the rack went to my '14 CB.

The right one ( flat crossbars, sits higher) came with my DLX and I believe the previous owner bought it with Honda red top box as a set from Samurider.

Presently, each rack is equipped with Givi universal monolock plate and one Givi box travels between my STD and DLX, no issue.

A universal adapter plate will adapt a rear top box to any OEM and non-OEM rack for the CB1100. After that, Bob's yer uncle.

Thank Peterbaron. The Honda boxes use a plastic "universal" mounting plate that the box latches to, and then an interim model-specific steel plate that attaches the "universal" plate to the model-specific rack.

The two racks have different hole spacing, and was wondering which type of rack the plate fits.

GO, I have long used and appreciated GIVI for their simplicity and ease of installation, etc. But with increasing competition, they have gotten more complex in fit and applications.

I hear ya. I tried to keep things as simple as possible. I used a non-name "Endurance" (Japanese Webike.net) rack and a Givi-compatible Monokey (?), as shown below. I carried over the same adapter to the Honda NC750X and Africa Twin without drama.
