Low end sputter, hesitation

I am very familiar with this condition, from about 1200 rpm through to 3k. it seems as though the throttles are not synced properly. I pulled my bike apart, and the only adjustment I see is the one linking the right cylinder throttle shaft with the left. its not like the traditional four butterfly sync system. I did however notice four screws on the bottom, one for each throttle body. they appear as some sort of mixture screw for the idle air control valve. which makes sense, there is only one i.a.c. to supply all four barrels.
i think i figured it out. i read on here and a few other places that cylinders #1 and #2 have slightly retarded intake cam timing to give the exhaust note that classic sound. all i did was increase the idle screws for cylinders 1 and 2 about 3/8ths of a turn out. this instantly smoothed the idle and now there is no hesitation or stumble AT ALL. again, the screws are located at the bottom of the throttle bodies. no disassembly is required to get to them. pay attention to how much you turn each one, that way you can rectify if needed. only the cylinders with retarded intake timing seem to be affected by the stumble (cyl 1 and 2)

He did try the throttle trick more than once and it didn't work. I would think ethanol slightly buggered injectors or electrics that got some moisture in them.

My CB started sputtering about 3/4 the way through its first tank of gas from the dealer, I stopped at a gas station and all they had for additives was this.

I added about 3oz and topped the tank off. I have ridden it twice since, about 1/4 tank, and it hasn't sputtered at all !

It wasn't what I would have chosen for an additive, but its all they had and it seems to have helped.

Yeah gas is horrid after three months these days. Down the Cape it would find a way to collect all kinds of moisture.

Thanks for the info, I will check this out. I wouldnt have thought there would be a mixture screw on fuel injection, but I hope it works for mine too. It might be a little while untill I get to it but ill let you know how it goes.

So is it 1 and 2 cylinders as in from left to right? Or as in firing order? If its firing order, which ones are they?

If you are sitting on the bike, Cylinder 1 is on the left, then 2, 3, and finally, 4 on the right.
This from the service manual.

edit to add: firing order 1 2 4 3
