Buzzing Instrument Cluster
#21
I've found I can pretty much hold anything--flyscreen, instruments, whatever and make it stop. Of course, my screen is a Puig plus and mounts to the headlight shell. Hard to narrow down.

Here is a pic of my 2013 headlight shell

Notice on the bottom that the red accessory connector just lays on the shell and can vibrate. Also notice at the top, on the bottom back of the bundle also touch the shell. This may be the buzzing.

So here is what I did

I wrapped some foam around the accessory connector, and around the wire bundle at the top. Don't know if it eliminated the buzzing, but it can't hurt.

Now I have to go put the headlight and flyscreen back on.
Yes, I just taped the top and I know it will end up coming off from age and heat, but is easy to redo and the foam is not going anywhere.

I hope that's it! Haven't ridden it yet as its cold, windy, and rainey all day. But I'll fire it up tomorrow and let it idle. That's when I get it. Or hear it anyway.

Also, that is the NON ABS wire harness. There may be more in the ABS bike shell. I'll have to check the book.

You know, I just noticed that the big black connector might vibrate against the headlight. I'll take care of that in the AM.

Good idea you have there. Let us know if it helps. I'm in the middle of a major project but if it works for you, it should work for many, so that will be my next project.

I went back and wrapped the rest of the connectors and put the headlight back in and the Puig back on.

Cranked it up and---NO BUZZ! Celebrate
So in my case, either the connectors were buzzing, or for some reason the Puig had something to do with it. I'm thinking it was the connectors.

Thanks for this thread. I thought the buzzing was coming from under my tank. Wrapped the headlight harness with foam no more buzzing.
