The CB will show a high temp warning long before your oil sees any temps it cannot handle. 3000 rpm in first is as good or bad as 3000 rpm in the 5th (unless you stay in 2nd for 6000km, which extends the hours on the engine). Gear changes, and acceleration make no difference either.
But GoldOx is right, the environment counts (air the engine breathes), and the quality of the gas burned counts too (by-blast past the cyl rings). So you either stick to the Honda recommendation, or you need a way to guess whether your oil can stay in longer. If you like to go this route, let me know, and I try to explain.
