What rpm does your CB1100 live at?

CIP, I always thought you were 20 something years old based on your mods and fast-bike exploits!! You had us all fooled :-)

Actually he is just a tad under thirty. But he's lived hard. Real hard.

The CB11 naturally runs about 750 rpm lower in top gear on the highway.

BTW, one thing I've noticed is that the CB750's engine is actually a bit smoother at highway revs than the CB11. I've suspected that for awhile, but last weekend I did about 75 highway miles on both bikes back to back and it was obvious. I found that interesting because the CB11 has bar end weights for vibe control, while the 750's bars are empty.

That being said, the CB11's vibes are nothing to complain about. Having come from a background of mostly medium twins, it's dead smooth by comparison.

I put a very small windscreen on my 750 and I can actually hear the engine now. Its electric smooth going down the interstate tonight at 70. Surprised you think its smoother than the 11 but I dont know how you can get one to run any smoother either.

From reading all of the posts the CB1100 runs a solid 1K less rpms than the old 750s. Seems the engine is very relaxed under almost any condition and should last for dang near forever.

Interesting to read all of the comments and finally get a chance to ride an 1100 some. Love the low end on this thing. Mine is the 5 speed of course but my normal ride finds me between 2500-4250 probably 85 percent of the time.

My CB1100 Std. feels great between 3K and 4K on the tach. Now that I'm officially past my 600 mile service, I'm going to rev it up a little to see what it feels like but imagine I'll be staying in that sweet spot.

Funny thing is I used to have a ZX6R that was sadly deficient on the low end and didn't come alive until closer to 6K but once there, pulled strong through 11K and didn't redline until 16K rpm! Crazy. The top end was just silly. On a race track that's great. For normal riding on city streets, I wouldn't trade what the CB gives us for anything.

Mine lived at 5k most of this past weekend. 250 miles north to Daytona on Friday, about 80 east-west going to the hotel Friday, then another 250 at 5k back home. I've got to love FHP; they were lurking all along the Turnpike and I-95, but they only pulled the cars that were doing what must have been close to or over 100. Most of the traffic was ripping along at 85 or so (and the CB was cruising comfortably with them) when a minivan blew by me like I was parked. He was just going out of sight when a trooper when by and lit him up.

Crazy how they drive on some parts of the country Spaceman. If I lived in San Francisco, Miami, Chicago, Atlanta I'm not sure I could be a motorcyclist. Every time I go through one of those places on a motorcycle I just think " this is nuts!" As people blow by me on both sides, cut in front of me, run up on my taillight. I feel for whoever had to ride in those places.

Running to the other side of Cinti tomorrow on the outer belt so it will spend some time at about 3250-3500 rpms, but that is rare air for me.

Old and slow

Hey I am in Ohio also , I just got my own CB1100 2013 model

2500-4000 for 90 % of the time, with my 2014 EX. The sweet spot is at 3100, where vibration in the handlebars is at a local minimum.
