Anti-theft systems?
#21
Abloy 362 protec padlock, and Pragmasis 16mm Boron hardened steel chain.Pic proof lock, and bolt cutter proof chain. 475$. I leave the chain, and lock at work on the security rail all season. If they have 12 min. to kill , and want to cut the chain with a grinder out in the open, well thats when you call the insurance company, and the police, because nothing is really theft proof.when i ride when not at work for stop, and go trips i use a disc lock, and a prayer.

That depends a lot on how much you want to spend and whether you want it to have a self-contained alarm.

I have 3 motorcycles and a very nice Vespa scooter parked in my locked garage. I keep simple "U" locks on all of their front discs and I keep them all covered with inexpensive Walmart motorcycle covers.

I don't really have a vehicle theft problem in my area (that I'm aware of), but these small security measures make me feel better.

The below lock only cost $20 on ebay...

Park next to a sport bike aka crotch rocket. They will steel that long before they take yours. If someone really wants it no alarm or lock will help, they will just lift up and throw it in a van or pickup.

I use the Xena alarm disc lock. It is a good quality lock with a very loud alarm. If anyone so much as touches your bike, including you, it will trigger so you cannot forget to remove it before riding off. They come in various sizes, I got the smallest one as it is easy to carry and will deter all but the professional thief. Mine cost £35 (approx $50).

I put a cable lock around the back wheel and pass it around the left side shock. As far as riding away with it still on,I carry a roll of red electrical tape and put a piece of it on the igniton key to remind me the lock is on.I feel this method is safer that putting tape over the ignition itself as it will prevent someone seeing the tape and pulling a prank by removing it.

I lock the forks but that's about it. I try to park in conspicuous areas, not in hidden places where a thief would have privacy. If I'm staying in a motel in a really bad part of town (which would be unusual), the bike comes in the room with me. My biggest concern is vandalism, not theft. It would suck to walk out to your bike only to find the tank keyed, seat ripped, tires slashed and cables torn off. I'd rather they just take the bike.

Two valuable security measures:

1. 2013 models; leave the silver side covers on the bike. It will be safe from theft!

2. For the home, buy a guard dog. The proper dog is a must!
