For me on the Kaw it would have to be the root beer and orange with the 4 pipes, although I agree not nearly as good looking as the CB
The root beer and orange is the least awful paint scheme for that bike, but it's still mighty awful. I think it's the bodywork beneath the seat that most offends, along with the drab, cheap look of the seat, and that motor with that giant radiator just looks so dang generic.
The entire design just screams, "CHEAP, GENERIC JAPANESE APPLIANCE!" By all accounts it's a very solid ride, with strong acceleration and zero vibration for an I-4, but there is simply no aesthetic beauty to be found anywhere on that bike.
As for me, I went and visited the '17 CB1100EX again today. It's still there. Same VIN. I know this, because I check the VIN every time, wanting to know whether the one I'd been looking at ever sold.
I almost bought it a couple/few weeks ago. I made an offer, and we ended up $800 apart. I figure that if the thing sits there long enough, they'll eventually accept my offer.
I'm not budging, though. I really don't need a second bike, so either I get it for a price I can stomach or I continue to wait.
In the meantime, I just learned that Hwy 1 in the Big Sur region is finally open again, at least from the northern approach, so I'm loading up the XSR900 and heading out tomorrow morning for a two-day stay at Deetjen's Big Sur Inn. I'll take the Skyline Bl/Alice's Restaurant route (yes, that Alice's Restaurant, immortalized in the Arlo Guthrie song, where I once had breakfast with Neil Young, who took the opportunity to hit on my wife), and I'll enjoy unseasonably warm weather all up and down the central California coastline.
