There are probably 20 rate factors that, in different combinations, change rates for a rider within a particular state. It is almost impossible to compare your insurance rates to that of another individual and is an exercise in frustration in any case. You need to give your unique information to an agent or a company and then compare coverage and pricing to other agents/companies that sell bike insurance within your particular state and then choose the one that gives you the best VALUE (not always the one with the lowest price). An independent agent can be helpful in this shopping process, but you can do it yourself, too. Also, note that internet quotes are notoriously inaccurate unless you input very detailed information (addresses, dates of birth, social security numbers, etc).
Personal Injury Protection is probably a required coverage in Delaware and is probably not required (or is called something different) in Cali. I am not licensed in either state so I am not sure of the insurance laws there.
I went with Allied: $490. Liability 250/500/100, UM/UIM 250/500, No Med. Comprehensive and Collision. Deductables are $1000.

Here in the Northeast one might as well not be covered for four months a year. But that means no financing the bike (which requires full coverage 12 months). Add proper uninsured, underinsured and medical for yourself and it's a LOT of money in a very congested suburban environment where too many motorcycles are stolen and too many fast fools crash without insurance. You rural guys have it made. I'm having trouble saving motorcycle money with the cost of life in general going up all the time. As my insurance agent said; Get enough insurance to cover your medical costs for not at fault and also in general. Too often she said, bikers are under insured, thinking only about the bike. Many personal and company policies do not cover vehicle accidents.

I HIGHLY recommend upping this one. This was all I had and my bills have topped $95,000 so far and I have a hip surgery coming up to repair a torn labrum. If I had not had medical (I know it's the law, but still) I would be on the hook for all of it. Also I still have deductibles to deal with and since I was let go during my recovery I am now on COBRA and the insurance has changed and I'm expecting a very large bill from my upcoming surgery.
Just be aware that the uninsured motorist does not cover medical, only the vehicle.

To be clear: Uninsured Motorist coverage DOES cover the insured's injuries if he is hit by someone without insurance. UNDERinsured Motorists coverage provides coverage for the insured's injuries if he is hit by someone WITH insurance, but with insufficient limits to fully cover those injuries. Lastly, Uninsured Motorist PROPERTY DAMAGE covers the damage to the bike caused by someone without insurance. To collect on any of this, you must not be at fault in the accident (although, there may be some exceptions to this in so-called "no fault" states)
RandyB is correct that increasing your PIP (and possibly your UM/UIM) coverage makes a lot of sense, especially if you are not currently carrying any other medical insurance coverage.

I do know and it is what I do, but I try to keep my comments and advice on a very general basis here. In the U.S. each state determines its own insurance laws and coverage requirements and I don't claim any expertise in states in which I am not licensed.

I can tell you that I got the full payout of $15,000 medical and another $1,000 for another part for medical, but I can't remember exactly what that was, and then they covered all but the deductible on the bike.
