@LongRm Let’s say there was a benefit to all this. Now ask yourself, is there a way to shift gears this way and evaluate with certainty whether it does any harm, e.g. affects the lifetime. If the answer is No, and I think it is, why take the risk.
Nevertheless, I agree what you describe works smoothly.
And one question, why is downshifting different?

The main and only difference is in spelling:
downshifting <> upshifting

I guess I am lucky that I never paid close attention to how far in I pull the clutch when I shift - I just fly by the seat of my pants as my old pappy used to say. Too much fun riding to be worrying about all that little picky stuff.
