If you sort that out, let me know. I considered using stencils and a white dykem paint pen. But I’d rather practice on a bad seat first, just in case. Don’t have practice seats sitting around to just practice on though.

Nice one, MTC! I think you'll like it.

I picked up a Tiros-K seat from KennyW a few years back. While the stock seat was fine for short trips, the relatively skinny forward part would get uncomfortable after about 4 hours. The wide flat Tiros-K works great for me on long hauls. I find that it allows me plenty of room to adjust my butt position. Now the only thing that gets really sore on a 700 mile day is my neck (need to get a lighter helmet).

The only adjustment I'm thinking of is some handlebar risers. With the extra seat height, I find myself having to stoop a bit more to reach the bars.

I bought a taller seat from forum member Jeffery Cory last year. Like you I found it altered my upright position, so I bought a set of GenMar pull-back risers. Unfortunately they are no longer made.

Yesterday morning I rode for 3 1/2 hours non stop, except for a quick gas stop. Normally the Honda seat would have me squirming within 1 1/2 hours.

I did develop a knot between my shoulders on the way home late in the afternoon. But as you mentioned that may be a result of the wind blast on my heavy bobble-head Bell MAG-9 open face helmet. I will try my Shoei RF-1200 full face helmet when the weather cools.

I’ve done this on an old Honda 500/4 seat. The stencil was available off eBay, it was self adhesive. And I used silver Flexible Fabric Paint made by Rust-oleum. Secret is to only use one or two light sprays to get that vintage used Honda seat look!

Did it three years ago now and still looking good.

yep change one thing in the rider triangle it affects the other things like neck angle, hip angle, knee angle and sometime makes an issue for shifting and braking.

Where is the crew headed this year?

Our crew is only four this go 'round (Glen, Laura, Cheryl and me). Mike and Jennifer (who you haven't met) used up their vacation days riding BMWs in Africa with Glen and Laura. Bump-start Mike and Judy couldn't commit to the trip due to shoulder and/or knee surgery for Mike.

The four of us will be exploring southwest Wisconsin and the Great River Road a little bit into Minnesota. It's only a 5 day ride this time and Glen/Laura set everything up. I'm not 100% sure where we are going, but I believe that this will be a series of relatively short (200 miles or less) day rides, perhaps from as few as two different starting/stopping points. I think we're spending two nights in a B&B that is also a brewery and pub. I don't know much about it, but I'm imagining something along the lines of the places about which Cormanus writes so eloquently.

If you come into Minnesota, hit Lanesboro. It’s not too far from Wisconsin border, great roads, valleys, bars, restaurants. It’s the Vacation town for us Rochester folk.

Thanks for the tip JLEE. I'll pass along the locale to the trip planner. If we don't make it there this year, though, my wife LOVED riding on the Great River Road into Minnesota and wants to get back that way -- pretty sure we could make the "detour" to Lanesboro.

That seat really does match the bike quite nicely.
