Dead KLR
#11
It's your battery. Mine last about 2 years in similar climes.

I've owned three KLRs and they are pretty neat bikes. Very simple and usually quite reliable.

Good luck!

Thanks all. I'll be back in Georgia towards the end of March with a new battery and a new fuse in hand. I'll let you know how it turns out. My wife is there now... too bad I can't get her to take care of it while she's home... Yah right. Rolleyes

Ok... the problem WAS the battery. The main fuse was fine.
The guy at Battery's Plus, where I got the new one, tested the old one
and while it showed in pretty good shape to start, when put on a load...
it went straight to ZERO cranking amps. He said that he had never seen that
before. So unless the problem is my tender (which is doubtful), the problem was
the lack of use that this bike gets... so the battery just crapped out even though
it was on the tender. Bottom line... ride! Ps... I don't know how Hondahoader
and others with multiple bikes keep their bikes road ready all the time. I have
3... and at times that seems like 2 too many!!!

Success!!! The lights are on, and the motor is running! Now... tomorrow... time
to ride! Then next week... I get to pick up my new CB 1100 Deluxe!!!! Life is good!!

You nailed it!!!! I had one exactly like yours, but it was a 2008 model. Rode it quite a bit but ultimately found it lacking in power. However harking to the "one bike" thread, the KLR can certainly kick the snot out of any BMW when the going gets rough.
