I have an 06 ST 1300 and a CB 1100...good combo.
Cip 57 has an ST 1300 and a CB 1100 Thumper has an ST 1300 and a CB 1100 Ridem32 has an ST 1300 and a CB 1100 and I think someone else does but who it is doesn't come to mind. Different tools for different jobs I think most every one here is thrilled with the CB 1100.

I got a 2012 ST1300 I would always be ready for a stop before I needed gas ! But buddy's you ride with need gas way before you do on a ST. Well I had a ST popgun just bought it. But it's still at my house for now. I can still sit on it lol
Ferret thinks like me. Like I said in other post sell the cbr and keep the ST and buy the deluxe. the CB is a very nice bike you will lov riding itCbr is fun to ride in short burst for me. But I'm 53 years old. I do love the power and speed but after that the thrill is gone. The CB thrill last & last Ferret have put you saddle bags on your deluxe yet ? If so do you put over or under the seat. ? Will they hold a few pair of jeans and socks etc ? I like them and they don't cost to much on eBay. Just wondering if they big enough. I have a rear seat bag. But I will travel with my CB

I'm no iron butt, and I agree that the CB's seat can be less than comfortable at times, but I just completed a week-long trip that included a few 300 mile days and I have logged three other 500+ mile days. Sure, I have to get off and stretch every couple of hours, but so do riders on Goldwings or STs. I'm not buying the tire wear issue either. My bike has no windscreen and no side bags. For my trips I have a waterproof duffel with a dry bag strapped to it on the back of the bike and a tank bag. The bike works better than OK for distance travel. Much better.
Yes, I'd love to have a true touring or sport touring bike in addition to the CB, but I don't have that luxury right now. Could not be happier with my choice of the CB as my one bike.

I am trying to decide if I want to trade the ST in on a CB1100. I have enjoyed the ST (60K miles), but I don't ride it too much anymore. And compared to the CB1000R, it feels big and heavy. The only thing I am concerned about is long distance travel on the 1100. I assume I can put a rack on the back, saddlebags on the side and a windshield on it when I want to tour. What are your experiences with long distance rides? My longest ride on the ST was 830 miles from Durango, Colorado to home in Fort Worth, Texas. I once rode 1200 miles from Fort Worth to El Paso and back in a day. But that was on a Honda Shadow 1100. I figure the CB1100 couldn't be any more difficult to travel on than the Shadow.I did not read the rest of the thread, but I believe you are very much on the right track. I've done a good deal of sport touring on a lot of different bikes - Harleys, BMWs, sportbikes, all kinds of bikes -- and the CB1100 would be my number one overall pick right now. My favorite bike to tour on was a BMW R100GS, a 1000cc boxer twin with 58 HP. It could go anywhere a sane person would want to go (I did plenty of fire roads and logging roads on it) and was just the ticket for exploring and/or covering the miles. This CB1100 reminds me more of that bike in its general mission than anything else. It's heavier, yes, with more power, which makes it quite a bit better when trying to eat up some freeway. But the narrow wheels and light handling would encourage me to take a lot of secondary and tertiary roads, and a decent rider could handle ordinary graded dirt roads (as long as they were maintained and packed) with no issues. It's a great bike. I like the lighter weight and since you sound like you're going through that particular phase of your riding career, I think you're lucky to have the CB1100 from which to choose. You can really do just about anything on it, sport riding, sport touring, long distance, profiling...you name it.

The ST has a 7.7 gallon tank (that's not a typo), so I have forgotten what short range is like. I can go 320 miles on that if I have to. I assumed I would have to change out the seat; there aren't too many stock seats worth keeping. Sure you can; just get bike dollies so you can slide them around in the garage easily!
