Did you own a CB 750 in the past?

Had a '83(?) CB750F2 - does that count? Got it with 7k in the odo, and a leaky front fork. Was a finicky beast with the carbs drying out after a few days. Had to "manually operate" the vac valve to start it... Sold it in '92 if I recall correctly.

A friend of mine and myself owned a 76 with a big king queen seat and a giant sissy bar. Not a looker but it was pretty well sorted. I drove that thing to the beach once in the early 90's, about a 3 hr trip, couldn't wait to get off.
I too am a twin guy (of the parallel variety). First bike 80 CM400T started me down that path. And of course my 08 T100 now is my baby. A few have come and gone along the way. I love the power delivery and sound of the 360 crank.

After my Yamaha YDS3, bought new in '65, I bought my CB750 K2 new in '72. I had it four years and then bought a Suzuki 750 water-cooled "Kettle" in '76.
My only other four-stroke experience before the CB750, was riding my friend's Velocette 500 Clubman single cylinder - I couldn't start it, my friend had to!! After my screaming, revvy Yamaha, the Velocette was a revelation in low-down, grunty power - one stroke every lamppost or so it seemed!! So the CB750 was a half-way point between the two two-strokes. Revvy but grunty too. I loved it. I've loved the look of it from the moment I first saw the press releases in 1969, and is the reason I now have the CB1100, to turn it into a lookalike by Whitehouse. In those days, here in the UK, the majority were gold coloured. My friend bought one the following year and his was a subtle blue. I also saw a few red ones but they were few and far between, but was really the colour I wanted! Which is why my lookalike 1100 will be red!

Before finding my 2013 Cb1100, I rode a '67 305 Honda Scrambler. That bike took me all over Northern California and the Bay Area. I rode it all the way down Highway One on the coast through Monterey, Big Sur , Pacific coast Highway, down past San Diego. It was a twin with 180 degree firing order. I just put straight pipes on it I found on Ebay (no baffles) and you can really really hear each piston go up and down. Really great tunes!
Then comes the '74 CB750 I ride, Sunrise Flake Orange all original down to the 4 into 4 pipes. After riding the 305, this bike feels so turbine smooth and the acceleration you feel compared to the twin is just so linear! It just keeps going until you shift. When I ride these classics and I do, it reminds me just how far progress has come. The CB1100 keeps this design going by being air cooled with the newer updates in design. Riding each bike, I just have a huge grin and I say, Thank You Mr. Honda! The CB750 was the game changer and the other motorcycle companies at the time either had to step up or disappear. I'll reach seven decades in two months and keep riding these bikes. It's just so enjoyable and fun!

If this counts, I had a '93 Nighthawk. Model was a CB750, so I say it should count. It was Tahitian Blue (I still have a new NOS right side panel, hint hint), and I found it parked a block from the beach in Laguna.
I could tell that it had led a pampered life with its original owner, and was now left to sit outside in the salty beach air. The second owner bought it and decided quickly that he didn't want to ride. My wife could see the urgency with which I needed to rescue this machine before the ravages of sea air did too much of their dirty work. Besides, I decided I needed a "beater bike", and although it was scratched up here and there, and had a tad bit of tarnish, I was going to leave it alone. I cannot leave anything alone. Just going to paint that one engine bracket to clean it up a bit. Well, now everything around that bracket looked shabby. Within hours, I had the bike torn down and scattered around the garage, cleaning, prepping, painting and polishing. Two weeks later, I had a bike worthy of Pebble Beach. However, a Nighthawk is the two-wheeled equivalent of a Honda Civic sedan. It's never going to be a collector machine, but I did get a ton of comments that equated to "Wow, that's the nicest one-of-those I've ever seen". Basically the same thing you'd say if you saw a perfect 1993 Honda Civic sedan. I loved the ride, and sold it to a friend when his commute tripled in distance. I know it's probably more disheveled now than when I bought it, but the CB1100 reminds me of how I loved that bike, in feel and sound, just with a little more power, and a heluva lot more style.

1976 CB750F yellow, purchased new December 1976.
Put close to 40,000 miles on it until I folded the forks in 1981. It was an extremely reliable bike. When I bought my first Sportster in 2002, the first contender was a Nighthawk, but although the previous year was black, the next year was red and I was in the mood for black. I think that was the last year of the Nighthawk...great bike with no valve adjustment needed.

Here was my 81 CB750C bought new in 81. We did have some good times cruising in So Cal back in the day. I had picked up the CB650C the year before but of course felt an upgrade was in order, then followed by; a 76 GL1000, an 89 1100 Shadow, (intermission for solo parent kids rearing) and 97 Valkyrie, 00 Valkyrie Tourer, 00 Valkyrie Interstate.
