Ride it anyway. As Ferret says, you’ll quickly work out whether you want to keep it or not.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. This was always going to be mainly a money-making exercise for me, plus the fun of actually doing it and with the option that it might be Ok for me to ride (but I doubt it).

Either I repair/K17 it, then sell, making a profit of about 2Kplus, or keep it if I could and sell my BeeEmm. But first I would need to a) register it in my name (adding an extra owner) and b) put extra miles on what is an extraordinarily low-mileage 'bike, both things ruining its appeal as a second-hand 'bike.

Keeping it like it is, just putting extra miles and another ownership on it before selling it because it really is too much of a handful, just loses me a huge amount of money! It's winter riding here now and not that much opportunity for fun. I have the BeeEmm for the occasional winter ride. If it was Springtime now, I "might" register and ride it, but not now, with six months of rain and cold - I served my apprenticeship at all that nearly 60 years ago!

Nope. I shall hang on to it until I can get the K17 parts, hopefully next year, and only then assess whether it's too heavy and i must sell it, or whether I register it in my name and start to ride it. I shall still enjoy transforming it anyway.

Thanks for a great suggestion, A-man. One dent could be removed like that - it's very small and quite insignificant. But the other one, whilst quite small and almost unnoticeable under the edge of the tank, has a sharp crease in it which has cracked the paint and a piece of the paint has flaked off.

The plan was always to just sell the tank, small dents and all, and fit a K17 tank. In fact the whole appeal of this project was that all the parts that needed to be junked to create the K17 were already damaged! So chucking them wasn't painful! The project only works financially because the initial price was SO low because of the damage. What I will end up with is a one-year-old, one-owner, extra-low mileage (165 miles!) CB1100, with a full Whitehouse K17 kit, for just 2K-3K more than the new price!

Bazbro, what an interesting project! I am so sorry you had to put it on hold, but it sounds like it was for a worthy cause.

I hope you get to complete your K17 . . . I will be waiting

Thanks Cobalt. Thumbs Up

I'm hoping matters will be sorted soon after Christmas, but it's a delicate family matter that I'm not going to force.

Meantime, the seat is on it's way, the K0 Cozy seat from Webikes in Japan. It was on special offer so I thought "Why not"? Big Grin

And... the RLETs arrived yesterday! Woohoo!! Clap

See? Life ain't so bad. Big Grin
