What a great idea for a thread.
I chose MrTim back when I must of been 12 or 13 when I signed up for a free online RPG called Runescape, I must of thought that it made me seem aloof and cool.

I've used it for all my online accounts/usernames since.

I got mine back in the day when I signed up on a gun board. I have no real imagination for these types of things, so I picked popgun. And have used it on everything since.

Friends gave me the nickname Squid because I was in the Navy a while back. I'm Italian and sometimes use the name Calamari instead of Squid.

Not sure how far back, but my sign-on is a nick name given to me by a good friend.

My user name dates back to my days as a student at Washburn High School in Minneapolis in the early 90's. A few friends and I had an econ class together and one week the teacher had the whole class break into groups with the assignment being that each group was to create a fictional company that sold ball-point pens. I think the purpose was to show the relationships between expenses, revenue, profits, etc. In any case, my friends and I had formed one of the groups and we were so disgusted by the lazy names other groups were coming up with for their "companies" (Washburn Pens, Minneapolis Pen Co., et al) that we started dreaming up silly names that we thought were much more interesting. Some 23 years later, I've forgotten all but two of the many ridiculous names we came up with: "Das ist Mein Pen" and "Barkingshins". Shortly after high school, the Internet started to become a big deal and, for lack of anything more interesting, I've been using Barkingshins as a user name ever since.

Gentlemen,
I picked my user name because I want to remain anonymous.

Mine's easy. In the last 30 days, my plane has traveled 3K miles, my bikes have racked up 1600 miles and my cage has traveled less than 50 miles.

Pretty random really, no, literally pretty random.
Many years ago, i registered for some online gaming thing, couldn't think of an username, and pressed the button for a computer generated one, hey presto, Insolentsquid was born.
Now i'm back into biking again, I find that a "squid" is a derogatory tern for a young punk rider who thinks his abilities are far greater than they really are.
Spooky, but clearly doesn't apply to me - I'm 55.
