I saw the Ladies RE group race at Brainerd Int'l Raceway in July. They showed a great effort and good race discipline. The bikes looked great. I stopped by the paddock tent and talked to the racers about the RE (Royal Enfield) program, bike preparation, and racer training.
Women interested in the program, one racer reported, is given a RE GT650 to modify brakes, suspension, and ergonomics. The engine and frame cannot be altered. The program provides technical assistance in the preparation of the ride. Previously, last year I think, they raced on dirt flat tracks.
Our local race club, Central Roadracing Association, has over the years had several women racing in a variety of classes. This was fun to see one class where the riders skill is the dominant factor.
