This is likely a browser issue. If you hover over the Smilie graphic (you might need to give it a couple of seconds), you should see the name of the graphic appear:
(The Ferret, thumbsup) Though this information is being served up via the web server, it is the responsibility of the web browser to present it. When a browser is unable to display a graphic, it will display alternative text if available. In the case of the Smilies graphics, it grabs the name of the graphic to use as alternative text. As I had changed the name of the biker to "The Ferret" back when I first enabled Smilies on this site, more than likely this has happened numerous times over the past ten years and no one has noticed. I am wondering if those of you who are currently seeing "The Ferret" instead of the little riding biker graphic are using the Chrome browser.
If you look at the screenshot that PowerDubs shared, you can see that other images were also not being displayed in his browser (Nachodaddy's Avatar is missing), thus the alternative text was displayed in Nachodaddy's post instead of the Smilie graphic itself.
