What year/model do you have? The rattle could be a loose/broken baffle weld or catalytic convertor, or broken heat shield. If you could duplicate the noise by riding it and getting it hot, put it on the centerstand, then duplicate it by running it up and down in gear.
Use a mechanics stethescope, or a long screwdriver with your ear to the handle end, the tip moving along the exhaust.
As far as the battery, it looks like the OEM Yuasa and the Yuasa replacement are lasting about 5-6 years, about average. I have found that the cheaper Amazon batteries work as well, and cost a fraction of Yuasa price. And no real advantage to be had from lithium ion.
