They checked in to getting an exact match and the color was not the problem. They had the paint code and normally could easily match it. Mapping it from the paint code didn't get it. But, for touch-up, it's probably fine. It was the flakes in the paint that presented the problem. They could have gotten close, but not perfect. They wanted a perfect match. As large as the area of the sidecar is, they were not willing for close enough. It's one thing repainting a tank because you probably wouldn't notice but the tank right next to the sidecar would be very noticeable. I'm sure for doing a couple of side panels, the spray can could be OK.
Here's a thought: A bunch of us could go in together and paint a bunch of side panels and buy the good Honda paint.
