The joke among the Guzzi crowd, you have to wear red suspenders, smoke a corn cobb pipe and be an ol' geezer. 
You might be mistaking Guzzi for the Ducati. Guzzi's are duck soup to maintain. Lock screw to adjust the tappets. Jugs are right there in the open, if you take your time it's a short hour to do eight valves. Much quicker if you know what you are doing and need to make time. With my Griso you don't have to drop the pan to change the oil filter.
And no chain.

But they are not for everyone; which may explain why you don't see many. I think the V7's and the new 1400 California will change that.
But for the most part they don't hold their value and trying sell your used one is a royal pain.
