I'm 6'2" and sit as far back into the curved area that leads to the passenger seat. My l've ridden for hours without my ass getting sore or numb from this seat, then again my CB750 seat is much wider and harder that this. This seat is a dream compared to the old hard OEM 750 seat. Sitting back allows me to get a better grip on the tank as well and makes it a bit easier (for me anyway) to slide side to side for cornering. It also puts my knee in a better position to hang from. If I sit choked up to the tank I can't grip it as well and that tank is wide.
I took some advice from another member here and just ordered a CB500F bar and some new Manic Salamander bar end (my addition) so that I'll have a slightly sportier position on the bike. The stock bars and my size put me a little to straight up for my taste.
