How do I drain the gas?

Well,

I would syphon as much out as possible. When I did that almost ALL came out. Very little was left to come out when I disconnected the fitting under the tank.

ACK-cb11 has pulled the tank many times. He may have some other tips, like putting a rag under the fitting before disconnecting the fitting to catch any dribbles.

I would guess you could just syphon out the gas, then run the bike until it runs the system dry.
