Maybe its the shifting technique? Do you pull in the clutch and let the revs drop way down then gently shift, or do you pull the clutch and briskly make the gear change in almost the same motion where the revs drop just a little? I think most do it the second way and the shifts feel seamless, even 1to 2.
you don't shift out of one gear and into the next like when shifting a car, just goes straight from one gear to the next with nothing in between....a quicker shift is actually better for the tranny than a "lazy" shifting technique. If you're shifting to 5th at a too slow speed, there might be a moment where you could feel a slight "clash" before the dogs drop in. Its best to avoid that clashing by shifting a little differently.
