Reactions to the CB1100 elsewhere...

Speaking of the Rune, I liked it but I never liked it nearly as much as the original Valkyrie, but I never bought a Val because of the 6 carbs. Now, I was excited to hear about the new Val, until I saw it.....especially the foot position. It looks OK but it certainly isn't a cruiser. I absolutely loved the looks of the original Val. They list it as a cruiser. Why did they turn it into a crotch rocket?

I put a little over 10,ooo miles on a '99 Valkyrie Tourer.
It had fantastic hard bags and a windshield as big as a barn.
I made the mistake of putting cobra exhaust on.It ruined the
original powerband.The bike was made for touring.I remember
reading about a Black Lady biker { tough as nails } who managed
to put 100,ooo in a single year on one.She wrote an article and
explained the pitfalls.She might have come up a tad shy of the
100,ooo mark.She accomplished it thru dedication and knowing
how much she needed to log each day,each week to hit her goal.
As far as the Rune.I guess it isn't for everyone.Harley guys
wont' even look at mine.However I have gotten more compliments
and smiley looks from that bike than all my other bikes over the
years combined.The downside is ... most of the compliments are
from people who don't ride.
The thing is the Bike works.it works better than any motorcycle
I've owned.It has the slickest gearbox/cluth of any bike.The CB
is right up there as well.The brakes are also fantastic.And that
trailing link front suspension works flawlessly.The bike does have
a weight limit. 260-270 lbs.meaning no passenger.It has a
hidden single moto GP shock that is adjustable.The bike is very
heavy as it has steel fenders.The bike fires up johnny on the spot
every time.The bike can literally get out of your hands in 1st and
2nd gear and has no tach.It takes awhile to learn how to get off
the line.It has a hotter cam than the Goldwing which has better
top end.But off the line the Rune can keep up with many a
sports bike due to tractor-like torque.The bike can easily pull
away in top gear { 5th } at 17 mph.
No other bike can say that.

I've always figured, at least IMO, that the Rune is probably the best cruiser ever made (although I like the looks of the original Valkyrie better) , as is the Goldwing a bagger. I love the F6B.
