While I certainly wasn't looking to be part of an image, I definitely wanted a bike that fit my image of what a motorcycle should look like. The rest of the description mentioned by the OP seemingly fits though.

I like 736cc`s comment " in the 70's which is the golden age of motorcycling. A motorcycle was a starting point for modifying the exhaust, seat, handlebars, paint and fairing etc. to make your machine unique and personal. That's my idea of fun. And go sport-touring." which is when and how I was introduced to the pleasures that only a motorcycle can bring.
