According to the literature, first five gears are the same and the extra gear give us over drive. This is better than changing the sprocket. It does not help that my Griso is a six speed.
To be fair, I borrowed a buddies GS750 back in 84-85 and that sucker was only 5 speeds. I kept trying to up shift but the rpm's told me that. If I recall, 6 speeds was cast into the case down by the shifter but she was only a five speed.
