Rboe, I tried using a strap wrench to get the original filter off, and it wouldn't budge! Factory spec must be 850lb.ft. of torque! It would probably fare well for future changes though.
Not surprising. Last year when everyone started to do their first oil changes on the '13s, most found that the filter was overtorqued and the drain plug was undertorqued.
I got mine off using the filter cup, but I had to attach it to a breaker bar.
