I wonder if the 1100s take off any better in 3rd gear than the CB750 Nighthawks? ROFL

Seriously, I love the 1100's dearly and I will have one some day. I want one really really bad and just being patient for the good used ones when I can afford it.

But let me tell you I am impressed with this old 750 for what it is and a 11 year old basic motorcycle. Its not the best at anything but it does everything for me and does it well. And its simple and so easy to work on. I like it so much I keep thinking what an idiot I would be to sell it. I mean I really do like this thing.

The perfect seque for my latest confession:
I've come to appreciate my CB1100 more and more as my ownership of the bike extends into its second year. It's such a great bike for my needs. However, I couldn't bear to part with my 1988 Hawk GT when I bought the CB1100. I still ride my Hawk on a regular basis and enjoy doing so.

(Deep breath here) If for some reason I was forced to sell my CB1100, theoretically speaking only of course, I'd be just fine relying solely on the Hawk once again for my motorcycling needs. Having a good bike to ride, any good bike, is a blessing — far better than doing without.

Hang in there OldF7Guy, all in due time...

+1 on that. That day is going to come for me one day. Like You Guth with your Hawk I love my Nighthawk. Its a really good decent bike for my needs. Wanting and needing are two different things and I am a tight wad by nature. In due time a Cb1100 is on my watch list. I just have to be patient. I will find the right one in due time when its right.
Now that I have that out of the way I have a confession to make. Recently, we had a big biker event in my hometown called bikers blues and bbq. It was a big even and tons of bikers rolled in from God knows where. It was a lot of fun and you could see one of everything.

My small town of 30K was filled with bikers. On the way home I was at a stop light with two HD big twins. Massive noise ect. Its like a switch went off in my head and said not this time. They took off hard and I got the 750 up in the powerband finally and laid it to them in second gear. I screamed past them once I got going. I know HD/s and how they run since I owned one. They never stood a chance against a little 750.

Yes, it was juvenile and stupid. Traffic was light, weather was good but I burned their asses and I mean good. I have no regrets and would do it again. Dont try this at home and dont be stupid like me. Just giving you guys an honest account of what happened.

Normally, I would never pull such a stunt but something just went off inside of me.

These 750s run pretty strong when you cut them all the way loose.
