I've had 2 Sportster, a 59 and a 94, (and 3 big twins.). Can't say the bikes were without their issues, but will say none of them ever left me stranded, ie: where I needed to walk home or tow the bike. Must say I DID appreciate them having put an electric starter on the 94 that my 59 did not have. No more kicking. What a blessing.
I have only had one bike ever leave me stranded, my 06 Yamaha Majesty 400 with a bad fuel pump, but even then it couldn't have broken down in a better place, my son's driveway. Pushed it in his garage, called my wife for a ride home (5 miles) came back the next day with my trailer and trailered it down to Yamaha who replaced the pump under warranty.
Knock on wood, motorcycles have been very very good to me.
