Riding in groups?

I have a good friend and fellow rider who is in IT for a global network provider who has helped me with my settings. Interestingly, though I am not technologically capable, I have seemed to acquire many geek friends who know their stuff. I guess I help them in areas they need assistance and they help me. I think one would have to give up their computer altogether to not be exposed to some negative aspects of online social intercourse.
That said, the FB route is easy to use for all manner of socialization, almost everyone uses it, and having to repeat or duplicate information elsewhere is time consuming (for me anyway).
Maybe someone will come up with an app that will forward FB information one could subscribe to without perceived risk. In the meantime, let's ride!

The "eye witness" testimony is interesting. When was the last time you saw cruisers going "airborne"? Not exactly sure what she was trying to say.

Most likely since they were on a curvy road, since some went down, others came around a curve at speed and with nowhere to go hit the downed cycles which launched them upwards.hence the bikes going airborne. Just a guess on my part though.

A 200 bike charity ride sounds like trouble to me Sad Even though I like and participate in a lot of group rides, I do avoid those charity events. Too many people, inexperienced in the group ride dynamic. I just give 'em some cash and pass on the ride thing !

20th Century? That's a bit harsh. Smile No offense taken though. I used to be an IT guy not too long ago, three years to be exact. I gave that up to pursue a family business. My title was PC/LAN Support tech for a Fortune 500 company (Ranked 247 in 2014). Big Corporation with a large network. Most of my friends were computer geeks, so I know about this Facebook. I just never liked it for many of the reasons Cormanus pointed out. Online social intercourse? That sort of thing is NOT my bag baby! Perhaps I am socially inept. Frankly I wouldn't mind if Facebook blows up today. I think it should.

I don't have experience in group riding. I started riding again in 2008. Most of my riding was in Virginia and West Virginia. The Blue Ridge Parkway was my daily commute, which ranks in the top ten best roads to ride. I miss riding those roads compared to what we have here in Florida. Florida roads are never added to the top 10 or 20 for that matter. But the fact that you know there is a maze of excellent roads here, and that you know how to get to the parkway without hoping on the interstate is all I needed to know.

Fellow forum member Ride4Now and I have taken a few trips around central Florida, and we discover new roads each time. He is a pleasure to ride with and I enjoy his company. With so many CB owners around here our riding group should be larger, but not everyone likes riding in groups for the many reasons TheFerret pointed out in his write-up. I experienced some of that in my last outing with five other bikers, but I also experienced some of the benefits. Two of the bikes broke down because of battery problems. We were able to get them back on the road, and that was part of the experience of riding together.

I understand that having to repeat or duplicate information is time consuming at least for you. Even for some folks the copy and paste function may be too tasking (trust me, I know). Regardless, I am no longer asking you. I want to thank you for the heads up. Eventually I will find some of these roads you have been on, and who know, I may find you too.
