Look at the similarities between the cb1100 and cbx... the wheels, disk brakes, forks, tank shape.. . would it be fair to say that the cbx is the cb1100's closest relative? or perhaps the cb400?
In the styling dept., I have to say that when I got my first look at the CB1100, I was seeing a lot of CBX influence. Mostly it was the squared off tank shape and the different colored, triangular side panels. It was also helped that Honda chose Candy Glory Red as the color, which was also available on the original CBX.

There certainly looks to be a lot of CBX influence in the CB1100, though I'm happy its tail is more reminiscent of the early CB750s rather than the boat tail of the late 70s-early 80s CBs.
